Saturday May 24th :
Ashtanga Led Class 9.30-11.30am
In this session, students will be guided through the Ashtanga Primary Series, following the traditional Sanskrit count led by the teacher. This class offers an opportunity to experience the sequence as it was originally intended, fostering a deeper connection to the rhythm and precision of the practice.
Vedanta Chanting 11.45-12.45
This class provides a space for students to experience the resonance of Upanishadic mantras. Through chanting, participants will immerse themselves in the vibrational power of Sanskrit, deepening their understanding and connection to this ancient tradition.
Shoulder Opening Workshop 1.30-3.30pm
Many practitioners struggle with shoulder mobility and arm strength, which are essential for lifting the body in various asanas. This workshop will focus on techniques to enhance shoulder flexibility and build the necessary strength to support a more balanced and integrated practice.
Sunday May 25th :
Backbending Workshop 9.30-11.30am
This workshop will guide students through techniques to cultivate both strength and flexibility in the upper, middle, and lower back. By learning to engage the entire body, participants will build a solid foundation for deep, controlled backbends, preparing them for more advanced asanas over time.
Breath and Bandha 11.45-12.45
Breath is fundamental to yoga, yet many practitioners do not fully harness its power. This workshop will teach proper breathing techniques to enhance the practice, along with guidance on effectively engaging the Bandhas. By becoming more aware of breath and energetic locks, students will refine their movements and deepen their experience on the mat.
Hip Opening 1.30-3.30pm
The hips play a crucial role in many asanas, yet they are often a source of tightness and restriction. This workshop will focus on exercises to both open and strengthen the hips, allowing students to access a greater range of motion and stability in their practice.
A bit about Ajay:
Ajay started practicing yoga at ten years old with BNS Iyengar at the Shri Pathanjala Yoga Shala at Parkala Mutt in Mysore; where he soon discovered he had a passion for yoga. He has been teaching Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga for the past fourteen years. Under his supervision, students gain the strength, stamina and flexibility to move through the asanas. He has the ability to work with a wide range of individuals, from complete beginners to advanced practitioners. Ajay’s first priority is to guide the student through the physical aspects of yoga asana. From there the foundation is set for the other limbs of Ashtanga Yoga. Ajay teaches his students with sensitivity to their body and his adjustments are gentle and precise. Ajay is particularly concerned with alignment and correct posture and guides his student to this end. His aim is that his students reach their full potential.
